Here at Regent Antiques we firmly believe that there is nothing more important than lighting when designing a modern or indeed a period style interior. We stock many different types and styles of lighting and we are confident that we will have something to meet your lighting requirements for both indoor and outdoor use.

Whilst some lighting is simply functional, there is also a lot of it which is there to provide atmosphere and ambience and to emphasise other design elements of an interior, such as wall surfaces and textures, or indeed an exterior in some cases. Please also see our range of lighting that may be used outside, including some very fine bronze statues converted for use as lamps and other bronze lighting pieces.

Our range of antique lamps and antique lighting pieces is carefully chosen to include examples for all of your lighting requirements and the contemporary and vintage pieces are representative of the styles in which they have been made.

When planning a new interior, or enhancing an existing one, have a look at our range of lighting and check back regularly because we are introducing new items all the time to replace those which are sold. If you see an item of antique lighting that you like, don’t delay, as these sell quickly and are often difficult to replace.

We stock a wide range of lighting, including candlesticks and candelabra, as well as many other types of lamp and lighting accessories.

Another very popular and much sought after type of lighting is the chandelier and you will usually find a variety of these in our London showroom, in a range of popular antique and vintage styles including Antique French Louis XIV Style, French Regency style, Venetian style and Art Nouveau - well worth the trip if you can possibly make it. Antique chandeliers vary in terms of size and style and we always aim to have examples in stock to meet all needs and budgets.

Another popular category of lighting item is the table lamp and, once again, our showroom is a treasure trove for anyone who is considering acquiring a vintage or antique table lamp.

In fact, we are very strong in lighting and a trip to our showrooms will often be the only one you need to make, so please use the website to create a shortlist and then, if you can, come and see for yourself just how varied our selection of antique and period lighting is.

Visit our Showrooms and Take a Look at Our Range of Vintage and Antique Lighting, Chandeliers, Candelabra, Table Lamps and Other Lighting Items

We would however ask you to obtain a shipping quotation before making a purchase, quoting the unique reference number on the item’s description page. If you are located in the UK mainland you will be pleased to hear that we are able to ship your purchases to you completely free of charge.

Antique Large French Bronze Lamp of Female Nude Sunset by Edouard Drouot 19th C

Antique Large French Bronze Lamp of Female Nude Sunset by Edouard Drouot 19th C

This is a magnificent large antique French bronze lamp depicting the female nude 'Sunset', by the renowned Parisian sculptor, Edouard Drout (1859-1945), Circa 1890 in date. This striking lamp depicts the excellently executed patinated bronze female nude figure of 'Sunset' who is standing tall graciously with her arms stretched out, slightly bending backwards with her beautiful head turning left, her eyes candidly closed, and the splendid long hair flowing around. She is holding a distinctive flaming glass torch over her head - hence, representing the golden light seen in a sunset. As a Goddess, she stands divinely above the sun, which is also exquisitely captured with its rays spreading - immortalising the moment when evening commences.  It stands on a splendid rouge marble base of unusual and desirable shaped square form.  It bears the artist's signature 'E. Drout' at the back. This high-quality bronze figure was produced by using the traditional "lost wax" process, otherwise known as the "cire perdue" method.   The craftsmanship is second to none throughout all aspects of this imposing bronze lamp which is sure to add an unparalleled touch of elegance to your home.  The pedestal shown in the photographs is not included in the price but is available if required.   Condition:   In excellent condition, the lamp having been rewired, please see photos for confirmation of condition.

Some Guidelines on Investing In Antique, Vintage and Second-Hand Silver Buying antique and second-hand silver is a immense subject which includes craftsmanship by some of the best master goldsmiths who were internationally renowned designers in their own right down to the most practical and ordinary of machine made common household items. In considering choosing this pair of antique Victorian candelabra we are pleased to offer a some ideas that might help you make a decision on the thing that is best for you. Highly valued for thousands of years, silver has special characteristics that have made it both gorgeous and valuable and as a consequence people have collected and used it in a plethora of different forms. There is a huge volume of antique, vintage and second-hand silver available on the market today. So how do you know what to go for? The major principle is that you need to pick what you actually like. Give some consideration to precisely why you like this pair of antique Victorian candelabra and if they appeal to your aesthetic sense then why hold off buying them? Gurus always say that you should opt for the very best you can afford, but this does not inevitably mean the earliest date or indeed the biggest item. Do take the time to understand the makers and the designs that attract you and this helps you determine the direction you need to go to build up a terrific personal silver collection. If you take pleasure in this pair of antique Victorian candelabra you will want to show it to friends and family and your pleasure will pass to them too. A key matter is the condition of a silver item and how much restoration work has taken place. When picking out silver antiques that are over 200 years old they need to have what is called a 'patina' which is a combination of the colour and the wear. You cannot expect an old silver item to appear as if it just emerged from the workshop - if it really does then it has most likely been considerably restored which is not a positive thing for a piece of antique silver. Remember that that in the silver antiques world a touch of restoration is acceptable where a small ding or dent may be very carefully removed. But be mindful of over plating, lead or silver solder, repaired seams, holes, erased inscriptions, patches and later additions or ornaments. All of these are inappropriate for a piece of great antique silver. The good news is that here at Regent Antiques we are careful to and provide only the finest unblemished silver pieces and if things like re-plating has been done we will inform you. We always provide you with ample photographs of our silver objects so you can see fully what condition they are in. Do take a couple of moments to look at the photos for this pair of antique Victorian candelabra to satisfy yourself of their condition. If you have any queries about it you are always very welcome to call or email us. We will be delighted to put your mind at rest about the condition of this pair of antique Victorian candelabra. You should know that silver tarnishes and you will have to look after them by polishing them fairly frequently. It's a good notion to clean it with a long term polish and then then try to showcase them in a relatively airtight display case if this is appropriate. This will keep it gleaming for the greatest possible time. If you look after them well this pair of antique Victorian candelabra will practically last forever.

More About Ormolu Ormolu is another term for gilded brass produced using a process that used mercury nitrate and mercury amalgam to coat a bronze or other metal surface with finely powdered gold. Once the object had been coated with the amalgam it was fired in a kiln at very high temperatures and the mercury would burn off leaving a gold coloured gilt veneer. No true ormolu has been produced since the 1830s when the use of mercury was banned in France due to its toxicity. More modern methods include using electroplating to gild bronze.
