Of all the materials used by man to sculpt another man, woman, or animal, marble is perhaps the most enduring. Statues made from stone, clay or even bronze can be very fine indeed, and in the case of the latter, can be very resistant to the effects of the elements and quite difficult to damage, but marble remains the material of choice of sculptors past and present.

In fact, were it not for the high cost of marble today, it would still be in use by many more sculptors for creating marble statues. As we deal mainly in antique marble statues and other works of art, we have access to a plentiful supply of pieces, all chosen with quality in mind.

Regent Antiques carry a wide and interesting selection of antique marble work as well as stunning contemporary pieces. Marble has a very distinguished look and feel and can add authority and ambience to any surrounding, be it domestic or commercial.

Marble is also used widely for the manufacture of lighting and we usually have examples of marble table lamps on display in our showrooms.

In addition to the ubiquitous marble lions (we often have life-sized examples available), we also offer a nice collection of marble busts depicting well-known historical figures, especially those dating from the days of the Roman Empire and, as you would expect, you can be sure of a nice selection of marble urns from which to choose.

Wherever you intend to place them, our marble carvings and sculptures are always worth a look so browse through the current collection and if you don’t see what you are looking for please call back soon as our stock is rotated regularly as items become sold and new pieces arrive.

If you are not UK-based, don’t worry, we can ship items of antique marble, marble busts and other items to most worldwide destinations on request – please contact us for a shipping quotation.

More About The ‘Lost Wax’ Method of Bronze Statue Casting Exploited by most societies almost everywhere in the world, bronze sculptures have been fashioned by this technique since at least the 3rd millennium BCE. The method uses a wax model of the item to be cast, which is covered in plaster or clay to create a mold. The wax is heated and drained off once the mold is set. If a hollow bronze statue is required then the wax model is constructed around a heat proof core. Molten bronze is poured into the mold and left to set. Once the metal has cooled completely, the mold is broken open to expose the bronze statue inside.
