Lighting is very important to us here at Regent Antiques and we always try to keep a good selection of table lamps in our inventory since they are one of the most popular types of antique lighting that we offer.

A table lamp for every table

Tables are, of course, very diverse pieces of furniture ranging from highly stylish dining tables through to a writing table, library table, or of course a desk located in your office or perhaps in your home study - any of which are likely to require a table lamp of some sort both for decorative purposes and to provide the light you need to work by.

Our range is not only diverse in terms of size, but it also encompasses a wide range of styles and designs. From the highly ornate antique French ormolu decorated designs through to the more functional yet still stylish Art Deco desk lamps we currently stock, along with Art Nouveau, Victorian, and Empire designs as well - there is bound to be a perfect match for your table or desk.

All of these table lamps are on display in our London showrooms which are very conveniently located close to the Manor House tube station on the Piccadilly Line. The showroom is open between the hours of 10am to 5pm every weekday and on occasional Saturdays. Please see the homepage of this site for details of Saturday opening.

Antique French Ormolu Table Lamp Manner of Pierre-Jules Cavelier 19th C

This is a fine antique ormolu Louis XVI Revival table lamp in the manner of Pierre-Jules Cavelier (French 1814-1894), circa 1890 in date.   The ormolu sculpture is modelled as a classical maiden figure sleeping on a klimos chair, a table set with a lamp behind her, the oval gilt base mounted with a light fitting, complete with a mustard coloured pleated silk lampshade. This is a superb decorative Japanese Imari table lamp on stand, circa 1840 in date.   The lamp has a bulbous shape and features Japanese decoration in the traditional Imari colour scheme of blue orange and red, profusely decorated with birds and flowers. This is a stunning large antique French  Sevres Cobalt Blue hand-painted porcelain and ormolu mounted vase circa 1880 in date, later converted into a lamp. The vase shaped porcelain body is painted with gilt-framed panels  depicting a classical romantic landscape scene on one side, with a floral panel on the other, on a cobalt blue ground with a tall flared neck. The lamp is raised on a shaped square laurel leaf cast ormolu base. Add an elegant touch to any room in your home. This is a truly superb large French antique  Renaissance Revival ormolu table lamp, circa 1870 in date. It is relief cast with grapevines, cherubs and acanthus leaves, the serpentine handle rising to a seated winged amorini and descending to a mask at the figural relief cast body with waisted stem and terminating in a circular base. This is a superb large white marble and ormolu Louis Revival table lamp, dating from the last quarter of the 20th century. The central column of this lamp stands on four ormolu dolphins which are raised on a marble socle that rests on an ormolu base. The craftsmanship in this vintage ormolu and marble table lamp in the Louis Revival style is second to none throughout all aspects of this ormolu and marble table lamp and it is sure to add an unparalleled touch of elegance to your home. More About Ormolu Ormolu is another term for gilded brass produced using a process that used mercury nitrate and mercury amalgam to coat a bronze or other metal surface with finely powdered gold. Once the object had been coated with the amalgam it was fired in a kiln at very high temperatures and the mercury would burn off leaving a gold coloured gilt veneer. No true ormolu has been produced since the 1830s when the use of mercury was banned in France due to its toxicity. More modern methods include using electroplating to gild bronze. A beautiful French porcelain lamp with hand painted scenes and delicate gilt decoration, dating from 1850.   The lamp features a pair of oval panels, one  with a hand painted classical deity in the clouds and the other painted with wild flowers, each framed with elaborate gilt decoration and each with grotesque mask head handles .  This was originally a vase that has been skillfully converted into this superb lamp. Condition: Offered in excellent condition for its age with some rubbing to the gilt, in full working order.
