Silver plate antiques are one of our largest categories here at Regent Antiques, as you will see when you browse through the many items we are offering for sale. We have an enormous range of antique silver plated antiques such as Victorian candelabras, trays, and table centrepieces, as well as Art Deco style items such as cocktail shakers, ice buckets, and so on.

Individual items of cutlery and tableware as well as complete canteens of silver plated cutlery are often show in our inventory and are always very popular.

This is a very attractive set of 4 of antique  George III  Old Sheffield plate wine bottle coasters, circa 1820 in date. The set are of circular form with a beaded edge decorated with engraved bunches of grapes on  turned wooden bases inset with a silver button engraved with a crest. The undersides of the coasters are lined with baize. Add an elegant touch to your next dining experience.   Condition: In excellent condition. Vintage 2ft3inch Rolls Royce Spirit of Ecstasy Sculpture mid- 20th Century

A large  vintage decorative Rolls Royce silvered bronze sculpture, The Spirit of Ecstasy, dating from the mid 20th century. The winged maiden was designed by Charles Robinson Sykes (1875-1950), and she stands on an attractive round black marble plinth base. In 1910 Rolls-Royce slowly became aware that some owners were affixing 'inappropriate' ornaments to their cars. Claude Johnson's brief to Sykes was to sculpt a mascot for Rolls Royce that embodied 'speed with silence, absence of vibration, the mysterious harnessing of great energy and a beautiful living organism of superb grace' to become the standard emblem of the Rolls-Royce brand and it was Sykes' daughter, Jo (born 1908) that believed it was on the road from London to Beaulieu that her father first became 'Very impressed with the smoothness and speed of the Rolls Royce car.... imagining that even so delicate a thing as a fairy could ride on the bonnet without losing her balance.' In early 1911 Sykes' presented his mascot, entitled "The Spirit of Speed", to Rolls-Royce. This figurine had her arms outstretched behind her and her gaze firmly fixed forward. She was soon retitled "The Spirit of Ecstasy" by Johnson and became the official symbol of Rolls-Royce automobiles on 6th February 1911. It is a striking piece thought to be a former Rolls Royce car showroom sculpture. Condition: In excellent condition, please see photos for confirmation of condition.

Antique Victorian Novelty Shell Shaped Spoon Warmer 1868 19th C

This is an exceptional and rare antique English silver plated shell shaped spoon warmer,  bearing Victorian Diamond Registration Marks for 24th November 1868. At a time when the kitchens were generally set far from dining rooms, it was of great importance that food be kept warm while being brought to the rarely heated dining rooms. Apart from the large variety of dishes that had hot water compartments so the enchanting spoon warmers were invented. Filled also with hot water in the kitchen, they were brought to the table along with the serving spoon(s) which were stored in them until being used and so kept warm. A Victorian invention, of course, considered one of the essential “fancies” to every well-run household, the spoon warmer was very popular. One of a variety of articles created for the demanding and expanding middle class. Silver was seen as a measure of social status and the status conscious were eager to display their new found wealth. There could never be too many objects, you know, as dining rooms were meant to impress. So many glistening objects piled up on sideboards and dining table.   Condition: In excellent condition with clear registration marks and no dings, dents or signs of repair. This is an exceptional pair of antique English  silver plated wine coolers by the renowned silversmith Hawksworth, Eyre & Co  of Sheffield, circa 1870 in date.   The wine coolers stand on circular pedestal bases with decorative Faustian masque handles and bodies which are masterfully embellished with  grape vine decoration. Each cooler is fitted with a removable lid and liner and the lids are engraved with crests of a bull. Add some classic elegance to your home with this lovely decorative  pair of coolers.   Condition: In excellent condition.
