A Spode Copelands China porcelain 60 piece part dinner service for Thomas Goode & Co, the globally renowned purveyor of luxury china, circa 1880 in date.


The set is beatifully printed and enamelled with flower sprays under gilt line borders with printed marks and the retailers stamp for Thomas Goode & Co, and Spode Copelands, verso.
 
Comprising:

18 dinner plates
14 soup plates
24 Similar Salad / luncheon crescents plates, impressed Booley
2 Small side servers
1 soup tureens and covers
1 soup tureen stand

Thomas Goode & Co Ltd is a globally renowned purveyor of luxury china, silverware, and glassware. Established in 1827 and historically based at 19 South Audley Street in Mayfair, the heritage brand was acquired by Delhi-based businessman Shashank Bhagat, who has been steering its expansion as a cornerstone of British-Indian luxury

Spode is a Stoke-on-Trent based pottery company that was founded by Josiah Spode (1733–1797) in 1770. 

Josiah Spode earned renown for perfecting under-glaze blue transfer printing in 1783–1784 – a development that led to the launch in 1816 of Spode's Blue Italian range which has remained in production ever since.

Josiah Spode is also often credited with developing a successful formula for fine bone china. Whether this is true or not, his son, Josiah Spode II, was certainly responsible for the successful marketing of English bone china.

Today Spode is owned by Portmeirion Group, a pottery and homewares company based in Stoke-on-Trent. Many items in Spode's Blue Italian and Woodland ranges are made at Portmeirion Group's factory in Stoke-on-Trent.
