A large and fine silvered cast bronze sculpture of a shepherdess, signed on the reverse by the world renowned sculptor, Claudius Marioton (1844 - 1919), and dating from Circa 1870.

The beautiful silvered bronze sculpture features a very finely sculpted figure of a beautiful young shepherdess, she stands on a rocky outcrop holding a gilded shepherds crook with a lamp by her side.

It is mounted on a cast leaf mounted rouge marble column st on a square plinth base titled "PASTORALE", which conveys the meaning  a literary work y) dealing with shepherds or rural life in a usually artificial manner and typically drawing a contrast between the innocence and serenity of the simple life and the misery and corruption of city and especially court life.

Add this fine art work to your collection, as whos beauty and quality is hard to convey in words.

Condition:
