This is a stunning pair of antique French twin handle two-tone gilt bronze garniture lidded urns, circa 1870 in date.
Goats in art have been associated with the worship of Bacchus (the God of Wine), which explains the appropriateness of the presence of goats in these Neo-Classical style urns' scenes, which indeed bears a distinctive bacchanalian theme.
In good condition. As antique items, the pieces show signs of use commensurate with age, these minor condition issues are mentioned for accuracy and, as seen in the accompanying photographs, the urns display beautifully.
