This is a truly superb antique Edwardian inlaid mahogany serpentine wardrobe, attributed to Edwards & Roberts, circa 1880 in date.
This stunning wardrobe features a distinctive swan neck cornice exquisitely inlaid with beautiful flower heads to the ends, as well as a central shell and delightful foliate scrolls all over. There is a characteristic chequer inlaid moulding below and over a foliate scroll inlaid frieze.
The striking pair of shaped top panelled doors have double satinwood strung frames with tied ribbon and leaf inlays to the top corners. The panels are profusely inlaid with a splendid basket of flowers displayed over a central urn and both are joined by foliate scrolls, flower heads and trailing harebell swags.
The copious interior has a useful hanging rail over two mahogany lined drawers with brass sunken handles. The cantered corners features trailing leaf inlay while the sides have magnificent satinwood line inlay.
The base has a mahogany lined drawer with decorative brass handles, once again profusely inlaid with a splendid central flaming urn and foliate scrolls.
It is flanked by trailing leaf inlaid cantered corners and raised on a plinth base.
It is a truly beautiful and spacious antique Edwardian wardrobe.
