An truly stunning large bronze 'Lady Justice' statue set upon a marble base, dating from the last quarter of the 20th century.
The attention to detail is absolutely fantastic and really brings this piece to life.
This statue has its origin in Roman times as the lady represented is Themis, the goddess of justice and law.
She typically holds a sword in one hand and scales in the other.
During the 16th century sculptors began to portray her with a blindfold to show that justice cannot be influenced, at which time she also became known as 'Lady Justice.'This high quality bronze is hot cast using the 'lost wax'process and is signed 'Mayer' at the base.
