Wonderful Antique Bronzes at Regent Antiques

At Regent Antiques, we offer a wide choice of fine antique decorative items, including stunning antique bronzes.

Our collection of antique bronzes includes bronze statues, lamps and sculptures in all shapes and sizes and many more unusual decorative pieces from all over the world.

The use of bronze for casting sculpture is timeless and the process is one which has changed little over the years. There are still plenty of bronze foundries across the UK, with many of them located in and around London.

Bronze is an alloy that doesn’t rust, as it contains no iron, but it can corrode over time – however this tends to give it an even more attractive patinated appearance which is often sought after by enthusiasts. Bronze then is ideal for use outdoors and is the medium of choice for outdoor and public sculpture in towns and cities all over the world.

Beautiful Antique Bronzes For Sale

If you are looking for a decorative yet practical piece to enhance your antique desk, you may want to take a look at this elegant antique French Empire bronze and marble table lamp, dating from circa 1820.

The candlestick later converted into a lamp features an acanthus capital, a fluted tapering column on claw feet raised on a shaped triangular Siena marble and bronze base.

This wonderful antique bronze lamp is in excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned and professionally rewired and is ready to grace your home.

Antique bronzes of animals are particularly popular here at Regent Antiques. One such example is this beautiful large Japanese patinated bronze study of a crouching tiger, signed on the belly, Genryusai Seiya, dating from the Meiji period.

The finely cast sculpture shows a striding figure with its head raised and mouth open to reveal long fangs, with the stripes on its body delineated in subtly-toned patination, the cartouche on the underside signed and raised on a decorative rustic wooden stand.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail are absolutely fantastic. A truly special piece that will be the centre of attention wherever it is placed.

Next, we would like to present to you this superb large antique patinated bronze Equestrian Statue of Bartolomeo Colleoni, dating from circa 1860.

This stunning patinated bronze statue is made after the original Renaissance sculpture which was executed by Andrea del Verrocchio in 1480–88, in Italy. Exactly as in the original, it portrays the commander Bartolomeo Colleoni, who served for a long time under the Republic of Venice, wearing typical battle ready military equipment while riding his horse.

The artist has faithfully replicated the original pose of the horse who is moving with a raised leg and is supported by the other three legs, therefore, conveying a great sense of movement.

The figure of Colleoni himself is extremely life-like as much as to convey the idea of a strong military commander, emanating titanic power and energy.

This high-quality hot cast solid bronze was produced by using the traditional “lost wax” process, otherwise known as the “cire perdue” method.

The craftsmanship is second to none throughout all aspects of this striking bronze which is sure to add an unparalleled touch of class to your home.

Aside from a fine selection of antique bronzes we also have a great range of beautiful vintage bronzes, including some which are life-size or even larger and which may be displayed either indoors or outdoors.

A perfect example is this gorgeous vintage bronze statue of two charming dolphins, dating from the last quarter of the 20th century.

This life-like bronze statue features two dolphins riding a wave, placed perpendicular to each other and with their delightful eyes and fins wide open.

Imagine having this lovely bronze statue artfully placed in a garden woodland or perhaps as an arresting feature in a large vestibule or hall. Equally at home indoors or outdoors, this fantastic bronze garden ornament of two dolphins could be placed in many locations and is sure to be a talking point.
