Explore Our Range of Superb Antique Desks

Available for sale at Regent Antiques is this superb and rare antique George III mahogany and marquetry inlaid twin pedestal partners desk, dating from circa 1780.

It is made from fabulous flame mahogany, the rectangular top is fitted with an inset gold tooled green leather writing surface and has elegant boxwood inlaid and Goncalo Alves crossbanded borders.

As a partners desk, it is finished on all sides so that it can stand freely in the middle of a room. 

It has three frieze drawers to either side, with six further drawers arranged around a central kneehole on one side, and cupboards to the reverse. The left hand cupboard has a central shelf, whereas the right hand cupboard has pigeonholes.

The whole desk has been masterfully inlaid with floral and foliate marquetry decoration which includes urns, shells and garlands. It has decorative brass handles and stands on bracket feet.

This wonderful antique desk is complete with working locks and keys. 

There is no mistaking its superb quality and elaborate design, which is certain to make it a talking point in your home and add a touch of luxury to your study room.

Another remarkable example is this stunning antique Edwardian satinwood and marquetry- crossbanded lady’s writing desk, dating from circa 1900.

This gorgeous antique desk is freestanding and has been crafted from beautiful satinwood which has been masterfully inlaid with a marquetry of ribbons, swags and garlands.

The desk features a central shelf with a shaped bevelled glass mirror below, flanked by cupboard doors with turned handles and two secret cylinder compartments. One can be opened by pressing a small button on the side, the other by pulling out a slide in the frieze.

The hinged leaf below opens to reveal a gold tooled black leather writing surface above four small drawers and an arched apron drawer. The desk is raised on square tapering legs that terminate in brass caps and castors.

 This elegant desk will make a wonderful addition to your home or office.

Next, we would like to show you this gorgeous antique French Louis Revival gilt bronze mounted kingwood and amaranth bureau plat, dating from circa 1860.

The shaped top has a decorative gilt bronze border, raised corner cartouches and an inset gold tooled green leather writing surface, above three frieze drawers on one side and dummy drawers on the other.

This freestanding desk has fabulous decorative ormolu handles and mounts including female masks at the shoulders and Bacchic masks to the sides.

It features working locks and keys and three capacious oak lined drawers for all your storage needs. It is raised on elegant cabriole legs with stunning figural ormolu mounts and lion’s paw feet.

This is a truly lovely piece which will display beautifully in any interior.
