We are proud to be able to offer a carefully-selected range of quality antique glassware including antique glass vases, various centrepieces for your table and a range of other sought after glassware pieces such as decanters, bowls and perfume bottles.

Tableware items made from glass are both attractive and collectable and we aim to keep a varied and interesting choice available for our customers, many of whom are established glassware collectors with very discerning tastes.

Glassware is About Much More Than Just Antique Vases and Antique Glass Decanters

When you are looking for antique glassware please be sure to visit this page regularly and see what we have to offer. New items are coming into our inventory all the time, and sometimes they don’t even make it onto the website before they are sold, so just sign up for our regular alerts for categories that you are interested in and we will notify you every time a piece that you are likely to be interested in comes in to stock.

Antique glass decanters are very popular - there’s no doubt about that. When you have a type of product that just keeps on being purchased by the public, it is reasonable to assume that manufacturers will keep on making them. This is true of decanters, with new varieties still being made by some of the notable makers that have been doing it for many years, such as Royal Doulton and Dartington Crystal.

For this reason, we offer not only antique decanters and antique glass decanters here at our north London showroom but also vintage (old but not yet antique) and more contemporary examples including Asprey of Bond Street, one of our iconic luxury brand names whose work - both modern and vintage - we often have in our inventory.

An item of furniture often associated with glass decanters is the “tantalus” which is a decorative stand, case or box for storing and displaying glass decanters. A tantalus however is much more than just a display cabinet or box. It is lockable but, in many cases, still enables the decanters to be on display whilst being locked. This is achieved by constraining the decanters with a lockable bar that leaves the decanters on show but prevents them from being used without first unlocking them.

It is believed that the lockable tantalus first appeared early to mid-19th Century and the first records of a decanter tantalus in the UK are from 1870.

Antique Glass Vases & Cut Glass Vases

Another very popular glassware item is the antique glass vase. We would normally have several examples here on display, in varying sizes and designs. Of course, it could be argued that the main purpose of a vase is to display cut flowers and not to be an item of attention in itself and we wouldn’t argue with that. However, many of the glass vases we hold in our inventory are just too beautiful to be ignored. Just picture your freshly cut flowers in a vase that has been designed to look good even when empty and you have a winning combination not to be missed. We usually have a good selection of antique glass vases for you to see here in the showroom - but bring your own flowers!

Antique Glassware for Your Dining Table

There are many items of tableware that have, for many years, been made from glass. These include glass fruit bowls, cruet sets, biscuit barrels, glass sugar bowls and many other useful and attractive items designed for the table, usually when food is being served.

Another popular item for the dining table is the glass centrepiece, designed to make an attractive focal point for your guests and family members when seated at your dining table. Glass is often combined with other materials such as silver, silver plate, and bronze when making these lovely decorative items for your dining table, sideboard or display cabinet and this gives them an added level of attraction.

Whether you are looking for a single glass decanter or a tantalus with three antique glass decanters inside, or any one of hundreds of other antique glassware items, our North London showroom is the place to come and browse.
