This is a rare set of eight antique solid satin wood Hepplewhite Revival Shield Back dining chairs, stamped Cowtan & Sons Oxford Street, London, circa 1880 in date.
These chairs have been masterfully crafted in beautiful solid satin wood with wheat sheaf decoration inlaid with trailing bell flowers, typical of the Hepplewhite style, and raised on tapered square section legs.
The set comprises six side chairs and two armchairs, all of which feature stuff over seats that have been reupholstered in the finest duck egg blue velvet fabric.
