This beautiful oil on canvas painting by Jane Vivian (Active 1869-1890) beautifully captures a stunning Venetian Scene, The Doges Palace, Circa 1880 in date.
The Doges Palace is a palace built in Venetian Gothic style, and one of the main landmarks of the city of Venice in northern Italy. The palace included government offices, a jail, and the residence of the Doge of Venice, the elected authority of the former Republic of Venice.This beautiful painting captures a striking view of the palace, it features a focal point showing a large sailing boat, other boats and gondolas with hordes of people strolling and crossing the bridge alongside the buildings, this wonderful perspective draws your eyes down and shows Venice at work.
It is housed in it's original and beautiful gilt gallery frame and is signed lower left.

Jane Vivian is a British painter. Many works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'On the Grand Canal, looking towards the Ca' labia, Venice' sold at Christie's South Kensington 'British and Victorian Pictures' in 2006 for $20,945.
