A beautiful lifesize bronze sculpture of The Three Graces, after Canova and dating from the late 20th C.
This sculpture was beautifully hotcast in solid bronze and has a striking Verdigris patinaton.
The style of this sculpture is elegant and there is a delicate beauty about it. The composition of the Graces was derived from antiquity, where the outer figures turn out towards the viewer, the central figure embraces her friends and the three slender female figures become one in their embrace, united by their linked hands and by a scarf which links them. The unity of the Graces is one of the sculptures main themes.
This high quality hot cast solid bronze was produced using the traditional "lost wax" process, otherwise known as the "cire perdue" method.
