This imposing Empire Revival pedestal desk is mounted with fine ormolu neo-classical mounts including rosettes, escutcheons and palmettes.
The desk has a rectangular top with an inset gilt-tooled green leather writing surface above three frieze drawers flanked by ormolu Pharaonic herms maiden masks with nemes headress and feet. Each cupboard door opens to reveal three slides / drawers in each pedestal and the desk is raised on plinth bases with lion paw feet.
The desk is freestanding with a beautifully panelled back and comes complete with the original working locks and keys.
The matching armchair consists of a shaped top rail with brass laurel leaf and rosette mounts with sphinx heads and laurel leaf mounts. It has been reupholstered in sumptuous green leather upholstery. The chair is raised on tapered legs to the front with brass feet and outswept legs to the back.
