This is a beautiful pair of oil on canvas paintings of the view of the Grand Canal in Venice by the renowned British artist Alfred Pollentine (1836-1890), each is signed lower right "A Pollentine" and are circa 1870 in date.
This beautiful pair of paintings capture striking views of the Grand Canal and both feature busy streets and canal scenes with sailing boats and gondoliers in the foreground, in the distance the facades of Santa Maria della Salute to one and the spiralling tower of the San Marco Campanile to the other.
Each housed in it's original and beautiful gilt gallery frame.
