This is a remarkable antique Italian Grand Tour bronze and silver-plated model of the world-famous Warwick vase, circa 1860 in date.
This stunning silver-plated urn is superbly cast. Exactly as the original ancient Roman vase, it features rich ornamention and a Campana shaped form, which gives the vase great appeal to the eye.
It has an exquisite egg and dart rim in addition to an applied beaded decorated border. It displays striking bifurcated vine stock handles accented with chased and embossed foliate decoration.
The body is superbly cast with magnificently executed masks of Bacchus and Hercules between two satyrs, and the pelt of the Nemean lion below with its distinctive pendant arms and paws.
It is raised on a circular spreading base with a liner and terminates on a sturdy plain square plinth.
The attention to detail throughout this piece is second to none and this classical silver-plated vase is sure to enhance great historical fascination wherever it is placed.
In excellent condition with only signs of use commensurate with age and wear.
