This is a magnificent antique Italian hand-painted oval miniature of the Madonna Della Seggiola, circa 1840 in date. 

This truly stunning oval miniature is housed in a highly decorative ebonised and brass octagonal frame that has a plethora of ormolu mounts that are inset with eight semi-precious stones including lapislazuli, carnelian and agate.
 
The scene depicts the beautiful image of the Madonna and Child - after the highly popular Renaissance painting by Raphael, it is superbly hand painted and enamelled and is finished in great detail to the highest of standards.

Add this splendid antique miniature to a very special wall in your home.

The Madonna della Seggiola is a painting finished c. 1503 by the Italian High Renaissance painter Raphael. It is housed in the Norton Simon Museum in Pasedana, California.
