This is a rare Antique French king wood, marquetry inlaid and ormolu mounted Bonheur du Jour, or Ladies Writing Desk, Circa 1850 in date
It features cut brass and purple heart inlaid decoration, making it a perfect example of quality and design.
The desk features a pair of glazed doors, which open to a central shelf and an interior that has been relined in a sumptuous burgundy damask. This is above a bombe’ shaped fall front which opens to reveal an inset gold tooled green leather writing surface with three spacious drawers. There are two sections that slide back and provide access to a hidden well.
The desk is mounted on elegant, swept cabriole legs, and it is complete with its original locks and keys.
In really excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned, polished and waxed in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.
