Antique Edwardian Mahogany Marquetry Bookcase c.1900

This beautiful piece of functional furniture is large and imposing, being some seven feet high and a similar width. It is an Edwardian four door bookcase in the Sheraton style and features a rich and striking grain, having been made from mahogany, a highly desirable wood. The piece is smothered in a fabulous marquetry of urns, garlands, flowers and ribbons, as well as having crossbanded decoration.

There is elegant thirteen pane astragal glazing to the top doors and the shelves are adjustable so you can accomodate books of differing sizes.

The bottom half is centered with a useful bank of five capacious drawers. The top two are half width and they are above three full width drawers. The drawer linings are of solid mahogany and the top right hand drawer has a useful slide with a gold tooled leather inset writing surface. There is a fabulous inlaid door on each side and each opens to reveal a cupboard with a central shelf.

The top of the bookcase has a shaped cornice decorated with scrolling inlaid decoration and the piece stands on a shaped plinth.

The bookcase is supplied with the original brass handles and locks which are stamped with the name of the renowned locksmith Hobbs & Co of London, and have their original keys.

 Antique Rosewood Chiffonier, circa 1820 in date.

The chiffonier features two doors with brass grills over pleated silk and an open central section with two adjustable shelves, perfect for displaying your books. The doors have beautiful bands of gilded ormolu and the rosewood top has elegant brass inlaid banding.

Each door opens to reveal a cupboard with two shelves, the chiffonier is supplied with working locks and the original key. It is in excellent condition and has been fully restored in our workshops.

The chiffonier is offered at just £2,350.00 and measures 3 feet 4 inches in height  x 5 feet 6 inches in width x 1 foot, 5 inches deep.

Here we have an exquisite antique English Edwardian revolving bookcase, made of flame mahogany and which revolves smoothly on its base. It is decorated with elegant satinwood crossbanding around the top and elaborate floral marquetry inlay to the centre.

This bookcase is ideal for the smaller space, the measurements being just – Height 2 feet, 11 inches x Width 1 foot, 7 inches x Depth 1 foot, 7 inches.
