Art Deco style never seems to lose its popularity and it is particularly appealing when applied to a piece of furniture that is both functional and decorative as well.

Here we have a splendid example of fine quality English Antique Art Deco Furniture – an English burr walnut cocktail Cabinet dating from the 1920s.

Just one look at this fine cabinet will convince you of its Art Deco influences, please take particular note of the lovely fan shaped glazing bars on the two side cabinet doors.

The cabinet stands some 124cm in height, (4 feet 1 inch if you prefer), and is 154cm wide with a depth of 43cm, (5ft 1 inch wide x 1ft 5 inches deep). The material used is a superb example of Burr Walnut which is prized by cabinet makers for its lovely decorative grain and depth of colour.

The cabinet’s raised central section will open and reveal a mirrored and fitted interior in which you can store glasses and decanters. The central section is flanked with cupboards that have glazed doors with fan-shaped glazing bars which are absolutely typical of the Deco period. It is also fitted with glass shelves.

There are  twin doors below which open to give access to a cupboard for storing drink bottles.

The cabinet rests on a stepped cushion plinth and still has the original chrome & ivorine handles.

There is an orange squeezer shown in some of the photographs which is included but the glasses shown in the illustrations are not part of the sale.

This cabinet bears a metallic label for the 1930s maker of quality Deco cabinets, “Pentebar”. It also says that it is a “British made cocktail cabinet” and includes the relevant Patent numbers.
