This beautiful Victorian silver plate mounted two bottle tantalus – the sterling silver mounted decanters bearing hallmarks S J Rose & Son, Birmingham, 1983 – has a polished walnut case with a fine grain with superb caramel hues, and features a pair of cut glass decanters with sterling silver labels.
The decanters are held securely beneath an articulated top plate with inset handle and circular working lock that secures access to the decanters. The original key is present, and the tantalus is standing on a tiered plinth base with attractive bracing in the Gothic revival taste.
