James Shoolbred was a celebrated furniture maker and retailer, active in London’s Tottenham Court Road from the late 1800s until well into the 20th century. A pioneer in may ways, pieces by Shoolbred are very much sought after and we are pleased to be able to bring you this very fine Antique Inlaid Walnut Cabinet dating from around 1900 and bearing Shoolbred’s mark.

This spectacular Antique Inlaid Walnut Cabinet is large and imposing, measuring some 6 feet in width and over 6 feet in height – see full dimensions below, carries the mark of James Shoolbred and is typical of the quality and design innovation that made him such a well known name – something that continues to this day.

It is indeed a pleasure to be able to offer our customers such a fine antique English Edwardian inlaid walnut and burr walnut side cabinet. This lovely piece of antique furniture is of the very highest quality with its hand cut inlaid marquetry and beautiful hand carved decoration.

The base section of the cabinet has a pair of doors which feature  inlaid panels and are flanked by a pair of glazed bow doors with with a decorative niche on either side. Moving up to the top we see has two astragal glazed doors with central inlaid panels which are flanked by a pair of small cupboards to either side and a mirror backed niche above each.

The cabinet still has its original handles, working locks and keys.

This is a substantial piece of furniture, the full dimensions being:

Height 208cm x Width 183cm  x Depth 50cm of, for those who prefer feet and inches, Height 6 feet, 10 inches x Width 6 feet, 0 inches x Depth 1 foot, 8 inches.
