Just In at Regent Antiques – French Antique Writing Table c. 1880

Just arrived into our London Antique showroom, having been fully restored in our own workshop, is this French ormolu mounted kingwood bureau plat or writing table, circa 1880 in date:

We are delighted to be able to offer for sale this lovely example of French antique furniture. It is an antique writing table, also known as a bureau plat, which features fabulous decorative gilded bronze ormolu mounts. The writing surface still features the original gold tooled leather which is bordered with ormolu.

The bureau plat is fitted with highly decorative ormolu handles and also has decorative ormolu mounts on each side.

In order for this desk to be able to be used anywhere in a room, not just up against a wall, it is finished on all sides – good looking and versatile too! This lovely desk would good in a home or office.

For storage there are  three capacious drawers and the desk is supplied with fully working lock and key.
