Antique Silver Teapots from Regent Antiques

Collectors of antique silver know just how attractive it can look, all nicely polished and displayed in a glass fronted antique cabinet – or wherever suits your taste.

Offered for just £1100 this is a  wonderful sterling silver antique teapot bearing hallmarks for London 1831 and the makers mark of Richard Piers & George Burrows:

The mark shown in the photograph above, RP over GB, stands for Richard Pierce & George Burrows II, The mark was registered on 1826 and is known to have been still active in 1847.

All together a very attractive piece with lots of nice detail, for example:

The teapot measures: 15cm in height  & weighs in at 20.3 troy oz. It is in excellent condition.

Let’s move on to another fine antique silver teapot, this one is an Antique Victorian Silver Teapot made in 1837 by John James Keith of London:

Antique Silver Teapot 1837

Keith & Co., (c. 1824-1929) – silversmiths in Britannia Terrace, City Road, London. Founded by John Keith in about 1824, the company operated for more than a century, interrupted between 1868 and 1874 when his son John James Keith and his employees were working at Cox & Sons, based in the same street as his London agent Franck Smith & Co.

Keith & Co. were represented at the London exhibitions in 1851 and 1862, and John Keith under Cox & Sons were awarded medals in 1871 for silver designed by Talbert. By the 1870s they were also supplying non-precious metals and church furniture. John James Keith, the son of John Keith, was later a partner of Cox, Son & Buckley.
