Fine quality Anglo- Indian Padouk tambour fall fonted campaign writing slope on stand, circa 1840 in date.
This superb writing slope desk would have been made for military officers in the field.
Brass inlaid with striking cut brass decoration and brass carrying handles, the tambour top revolves when you open the front drawer to reveal an internal secretaire, The rear section then lifts up, when the panels in the sides are pressed in, to reveal an interior fitted with a cupboard, small drawers, a pen tray and pigeon holes.
The writing slope has an inset gold tooled green leather writing surface with a brass cartouche which opens to a storage area. It is raised on four turned legs joined by an incurved under tier.
There is no mistaking its unique quality and design, which is sure to make it a treasured piece by any discerning collector.
