This is an exquisite and very large antique Scottish Neo-Classical silver plated tray, circa 1880 in date.
The tray has the maker's mark of the Glasgow-based silversmith, Thomas Ross & Sons.
The tray is of rectangular shape with cut corners and straight sides. It has a pie crust border with elegant handles to each end and is raised on elegant bun feet.
The base of the tray features sophisticated engraved Neo-Classical banded decoration as well as a family crest with a kite on a hat and the motto 'Ego Penetravi Nubes' (I penetrate the clouds).
The elegance, quality and design of this Scottish tray are truly second to none.
