If you are one of those people,like me, who spends a lot of time at their desk, then there’s nothing at all wrong with wanting your workspace to look good, is there?<\/p>\n

For many, that might involve an even larger widescreen monitor, a jet propelled mouse, a mouse mat that doubles up as a drinks mat, and a web cam for those endless skyping sessions where the person at the other end doesn’t mind staring at my face throughout the conversation – it does provide an incentive to stay awake though.<\/p>\n

Then there are those who want their desk to be an inviting, pleasant place that is great to look at and where the creative juices can start to flow.<\/p>\n

All of which is a long way around saying that this post is about Antique Desk Accessories.<\/p>\n

Take a look at this lovely\u00a0Antique George IV Boulle Marquetry Inkstand<\/a>, dating from around 1820:<\/p>\n

Antique George IV Boulle Marquetry Inkstand<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

Offered for sale at \u00a31150, this exquisite George IV red tortoiseshell and brass marquetry ‘Boulle’ inkstand, is made from rosewood and is circa 1820 in date. It has been expertly inlaid with brass scrolling foliate stylised foliage decoration in red tortoiseshell. Beneath, there is a beautiful quill tray and two engraved brass lidded glass ink pots flanking a central sand compartment with a brass candlestick.<\/p>\n

The ink pots are enhanced by traces of red and black ink which is testimony to its history as a functional writing accessory – good looking and useful too!<\/p>\n

The ink stand measures as follows:\u00a0Height 14 x Width 35 x Depth 22 – these dimensions are given in centimeters.<\/p>\n

Occupying just a little of your total desk area, at just 4cm high\u00a0x 15cm wide x 9cm deep, this lovely item from the turn of the last century will provide an interesting focal point for you to sit and admire whilst waiting for that elusive surge of inspiration.<\/p>\n

This antique French Boulle and red tortoiseshell rosewood desk blotter was made by Asprey London and is offered for sale at just \u00a3375 so we don’t expect it to be around for long.<\/p>\n

If blotters aren’t your thing, we round off this round up of desk bound delights with this\u00a0Antique English Silver Inkstand by D & J Welby of London dating from 1895<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Antique English Silver Inkstand D & J Welby London 1895<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n

We are delighted to be offering, for the modest sum of \u00a31350, this antique desk set set in cut glass and silver dated 1895 – the piece bears clear hallmarks of famous silversmiths and jewellers Daniel & John Welby, London 1895.<\/p>\n

\"Delightful<\/a><\/p>\n

The rectangular base has a gadrooned border and space for two pen trays. The tray is raised on four pierced bracket feet and has an engraving to the base which reads: Herbert Oct 1895.<\/p>\n

The inkstand comprises two cut glass inkwells with hinged silver covers, each engraved with a crest and motto which reads: ‘Virtute et honore’ (Honour & Virtue). The crest and motto are probably that of George Charles Kent, being a lion’s head erased, erminois.<\/p>\n

There is a central square wafer box mounted with a taperstick in the form of a miniature chamberstick with removable nozzle.<\/p>\n

There is no finer way to store ones ink and this lovely piece of antique silver is going to look very good on its new owner’s desk.<\/p>\n
