Let\u2019s start with this magnificent bespoke burr walnut and marquetry dining table and chair set<\/a>, in the Victorian Revival style.<\/p>\n\n\n

This gorgeous bespoke burr walnut and marquetry dining room table comes with a  matching set of 18 chairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The table is made from burr walnut which has a stunningly beautiful grain, and has been French-polished by hand. French polish is an alcohol and shellac polish for wood, and takes a lot of patience and hard work, but is one of the most beautiful finishes available, and produces an exceptionally high gloss.<\/p>\n\n\n

This table has four leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion, via a special double winding mechanism. When completely wound in, the table is transformed into a circular table that is six feet in diameter.  There are six elegantly carved legs for stability that terminate in brass cup castors. The table top has a band of exquisite floral marquetry and this regal decoration includes floral bouquets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The matching set of eighteen chairs comprises sixteen side chairs and a pair of armchairs. The chairs are made of solid walnut, have been beautifully French-polished and upholstered, and the exquisite marquetry decoration is all hand-cut to match the table. The drop in seats can be removed in hot weather and the cane seats below utilised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These bespoke chairs are typical of Regency style furniture, a style that was prevalent in England during the Regency (1811-1820) of George, Prince of Wales. He later became known as George IV.

The chairs have elegantly carved frames and drop-in seats that are covered in a royal burgundy and gold upholstery. Underneath these upholstered cushions are weaved cane seats. This variation allows for cooler and more comfortable dining in the warmer summer months.
