It has a golden orange-brown heartwood  which matures into a yellow-brown colour which is streaked with dark purple-mauve and brown patches, with veins and tiny clusters and knots of in-grown bark. <\/p>\n<p>It has a white to cream sapwood which provides an attractive contrast to the heartwood. The grain is usually straight but can sometimes be curly and irregular. <\/p>\n<p>Yew was used for centuries to make traditional English Longbows as well as fences, gates, posts, doors, tables and rustic furniture.
