It was one of the most valuable and prized woods from the late 16th century onwards with Thomas Sheraton, Thomas Chippendale and Duncan Phyfe all making furniture with it.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately due to demand, the supply of the timber shrank as tree harvesting methods got more sophisticated and the more inaccessible trees were cut down.
