Bramah<\/strong> was established in London in 1784 and is London\u2019s oldest security company still in existence today. <\/p>\n

Joseph Bramah made his first lock in 1784 which was patented in 1787. It was unique and significantly advanced the protection of property and valuables. It was ahead of its day being 50 years ahead of Chubb and 70 years ahead of Yale. His locks are found on the finest furniture and also in many high class homes.<\/p>\n

Joseph Bramah was a leading inventor who didn\u2019t just work with locks. He patented over 18 new inventions including the hydraulic pump, a fountain pen, a fire engine and a new valve for the water closet (toilet). One of his original toilets is still working in Osborne House, Queen Victoria\u2019s residence on the Isle of Wight. He also invented a new beer hand pump that prevented beer theft when barmen had to leave their posts. <\/p>\n
