The firm also had showrooms in Holborn in London, opened in 1858 and later at Holborn Viaduct (1883).<\/p>\n<p>When Joseph Slater retired in 1858 the firm became Roberts &amp; Briggs and traded under that name until 1863 when Briggs retired. They then became Roberts &amp; Belk with the joining of a new partner, Charles Belk.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Roberts finally retired in 1879 and the firm passed to Charles Belk but retained the name Roberts &amp; Belk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Roberts &amp; Slater were Sheffield based silversmiths operating between 1845 and 1858.
