They also made watches and traded in secondhand watches.<\/p>\n<p>Humphrey Payne is listed as working in Gutter Lane from 1701 to 1739 when he then moved to the \u2018Hen &amp; Chickens\u2019 in Cheapside. He was joined by his son John Payne and they are listed as goldsmiths and jewellers trading from the Hen &amp; Chickens from 1751 until 1755 John is listed alone as a goldsmith at 44 Cheapside from 1751 until 1779.
