Emes & Barnard<\/strong> – was a silversmiths trading in London from 1808. It was formed when Edward Barnard went into partnership with Rebecca Emes as a result of her husband, John Emes death. Barnard had been the manager of John Emes\u2019 manufacturing silver ware firm.<\/p>\n

Edward Barnard entered his first mark in conjunction with his new partner Rebecca Emes in 1808.<\/p>\n

The firm traded as Emes & Barnard from 1808 until 1829 when Rebecca withdrew from the partnership. Barnard took over the firm and went on to trade with his sons as Edward Barnard & Sons.<\/p>\n

Emes & Barnard acted mainly as retailers although they did accept orders from other firms such as Rundell, Bridge & Rundell and Fisher, Braithwaite & Jones.<\/p>\n

Their workshop produced large and ornate presentation pieces such as race cup trophies and elaborate dinner services using popular late 18th Century styles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
