Charles Frodsham (1810-1873) – was a famous English clock and watch maker. Apprenticed to his father, also a well known horologist, he set up in business on his own account and bought out Arnold & Co when John Roger Arnold died in 1843. He went on to become one of the period\u2019s most eminent eminent horologists becoming Master of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers\u2019 in 1855 and again in 1862. He also became the \u2018Superintendent and Keeper of Her Majesty\u2019s clocks at Buckingham Palace.\u2019 This prestigious post enabled him to build his profile worldwide and he had agents in France, Spain and America.<\/p>\n
During the later part of the 19th century, Frodshams made the majority of the sidereal regulators for the new astronomical observatories being set up at the time including Harvard College in the USA, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia and Padova, Palermo and Naples in Italy. <\/p>\n
In 1884, the firm became Charles Frodsham and Co. and still holds the Royal Warrant of clock suppliers to the British Royal Family today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
