Aitken\u2019s son Peter McOmish Dott (1856-1934) went on to develop the Edinburgh firm into a fine art dealers  called \u2018The Scottish Gallery\u2019 which opened in 1897. It was continued by George Proudfoot (1873-1943) and subsequent others and is now the oldest commercial gallery still trading in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>They were renown for providing bespoke frames and other artists supplies for both artists and galleries across Scotland including William McTaggart (e.g. The Lobster Fishers, 1899) and E. A.
