\"Antique<\/a>

Antique French 3-Piece Suite by Maple & Co c.1860-70<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n

Even a quick glance in its direction would tell you that this French 3-piece suite is rather special. In excellent, untouched, condition, as shown in these photographs, this fine suite is skillfully upholstered with the original decorative floral wool work fabric tapestry.<\/p>\n

\"Antique<\/a><\/p>\n

The suite also boasts gilded, hand carved, foliate and ribbon tied frames which are positioned on stylish reeded legs. The underneath of the suite is stencilled Maple & Co Ltd, renowned furniture manufacturers operating from London, Paris and Buenos Aires. The company manufactured their own top-end furniture in a huge warehouse that reputedly occupied an area where once 200 houses had stood in 1890. The business was world famous and was firmly established as a tourist hotspot in Victorian times.<\/p>\n

The sofa measures as follows:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Height 102cm x Width 136cm x Depth 76cm, \u00a0(Height 3 feet, 4 inches x Width 4 feet, 5 inches x Depth 2 feet, 6 inches)<\/p>\n

The chairs measure:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Height 97 x Width 64 x Depth 66, (Height 3 feet, 2 inches x Width 2 feet, 1 inch x Depth 2 feet, 2 inches).<\/p>\n

About Maple & Co<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maple & Co Ltd. supplied furniture to the rich and famous in\u00a0\u00a0Victorian society. Their furniture could be found in palaces world-wide, including Tsar Nicholas’s Winter Palace, the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna, plus most of the world’s fine hotels, houses and many British embassies. The Maples furniture business continued well into the 20th century, eventually going bankrupt in 1997 and being acquired by Allders.<\/p>\n

It goes without saying therefore that antique furniture of this quality and pedigree should be of interest to those who appreciate the style and elegance that a suite like this could bring to their home.<\/p>\n

We are offering this fine suite for \u00a33250 which will include any restoration work that may be necessary. The photographs you see here and at this link<\/a> are of the suite in its original, un-restored, condition.<\/p>\n
