This is a delightful antique Edwardian mahogany and inlaid Sutherland table.The beautiful fine inlay compliments the mahogany with the whole French polished to a beautiful finish. It features its original brass and porcelain castors.

A Sutherland table is a form of dropleaf table which has a top that is shallow so as not to occupy a lot of space when not needed, it has flaps which open up to make a small table when required.

First recorded in about 1850, almost exactly 100 years after the similar Pembroke was first made, they were named after Harriet, the Duchess of Pembroke, and reached their height of popularity in the late 19th century.

In excellent fully restored condition.
