This is an Vintage Italian bureau bookcase, made in Venice, Circa 1950 in date and in truly excellent condition. It is a copy of an 18th Century Venetian bureau bookcase, an original of which would be worth in the region of a million pounds. It is masterfully made, note the serpentine sides and front and the beautiful shaped cornice, all hallmarks of the master cabinet makers art.
It has been made from the finest burr walnut. The top has two doors with mirror glazing which have been engraved with garlands of flowers and a lady on one and a man on the other. both in period costume, there is also a small mirror above . It is fully fitted inside with a myriad of small drawers, pigeon holes a a small cupboard with a mirrored door.
The base has three deep drawers, very useful for storage.The bureau fall can be lowered for use as a desk and the interior has four small drawers for storing pens, papers, etc.
It has it's original handles and locks.
It is ready to grace one of the rooms in your house and is in excellent condition.
